pre 95.5? what vehicle besides a land cruiser would have a solid axle around that year? and there is nothing i have to look for? other than making sure that the v6 diff is not a 488 gear ratio? anything else will bolt right up, axle shaft are compatable and everything?

v6 diffs have a two pinion case and two extra spider gears in a solid bolt together case compared to the 4cyl has one pinion running through the spider gears and only has two spiders instead of four

Been running V6 diffs with factory 4.88's for over 4 years. Easy way to 're-gear' without worrying about the set up and plus you have a genuine gearset.

Yes, all axle shafts are 30 spline at the diff end.

My point was that any REAR third works in the SFA too.
The 4.88 rear diff will work in your front housing also. The only thing to worry about with it is that it's not regearable down the road. If you decide to go to larger tires, you have to replace the entire third.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean that if I have 4.56 gears in my V6 diff, I cannot change to 4.88?

hat! thats badass. definatelly did not know that! ok so basically all i have to make sure of is that i do not grab a rear end with 488's stock because the third is built differently and cannot be regeared which i already knew.
just to clarify since all of you have been such a huge help and i figure it couldnt hurt to ask, how do i make sure that i do not accidently find a 488 gear set before i pull it? i think there is a thread on here that i found once on accident through another thread but can manage to get that lucky again.
oh and once again thank you all for being so helpful!
