did that fix it?
i had some noise that came with speed once and it turned out one of my cvs was not disengaging so one side would turn all the gears.
man, after seeing your pics i think im not going to put off changing my diff fluid any longer!

please dont put off changing your dif fluid... its not pretty... also check and clean/install dif breathers regularly because i presume thats what started the blown se3al in the first place... but that was before i found yotatech...
i too am waiting for ZUK to materialize...
as for matt's writeup, here it is...
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...nstall-161405/
just ignore the locker installation part if you arent doing that...

Whirring noise from inside the cab
I know this thread is old, but I need help diagnosing something in my truck. I can't post new thread, so here I am.
Truck is a 97 4Runner, V6 SR5 4WD. Bought it new in '96 and never really had any problem with it. It has 218K miles on it. Performed regular maintenance on it.
I took it to Jiffy Lube and had them change the oil with high mileage 10W30. Also had them perform the Rear Differential Service.
I started having a whirring noise when I start the truck that changes with rpm.
I thought it was valve tapping. You can hardly hear it when you open the hood, but inside the truck, you can definitely hear it and it is really annoying me. You can hear it even when the truck is not in gear and at a stand still.
I have oil leaking out of the headers for a while, so I took it to the dealership and they fixed the gasket and the leak and they told me that the truck sounded normal for a high mileage truck. They also told me that it is not valve tapping. The job cost me $700+. I am glad they fixed the leak, but I could have done it myself, but I just don't have the time.
So, could it be that Jiffy Lube messed up and not put enough differetial fluid?
Could it be the fan clutch? Please help.

Not sure this is the right place to be hi-jacking a thread. But I'll bite
So the truck only makes this noise while moving??
Why/How did you inspect under the hood if that is the case?
