Talk about cramped? Try in a 89 Dodge Omni. Legs all stickin out the window, blown shocks making all sorts of racket, with your dog baying his heart out the entire time. Think that was when I turned into a smoker, right after that one...
I was actually thinkin about partin it out today. Figure engine $500, tranny $500, tcase $250, body & frame $400, all 5 tires and rims for $300, axels & gears $400 each. Thats like 2.75 right there, though I was just gestimatin on prices, aint never really researched all that. Wouldn't save nothin but my steering wheel cover, cb & antenna, and recovery gear. Want to pretty much start from scratch on my next one.

It'd probably be much easier for you to do a SAS than an IFS swap. With the SAS you would (in very basic terms) cut off everything in the front, weld on some spring hangers, weld on shock hoops, convert the steering and bolt on a transfer case & crossmember and fitting a drive shaft. Adding the proper IFS would be very difficult, and not worth the time in converting.

hmm... now if only i could find the money, a car to drive for the year and a half it would take me to do that, and some more money to fix all the mistakes i would make... lol. a sas to convert to 4wd would be nice, but a-i dont have the money to do crap, b-i dont have the time to do it all, 3-i dont have the tools or knowhow(although im completely confindent that i could find the basics on here) and, 7-i dont live anywhere near somewhere that i could show off my new found beastedness on rocks or anything. not even rly any good mud. oh well. maybe if someone gets bored one day and decides they want to do the swap on my truck. that would be nice. lol. till then, i'll keep the sas and 4wd swap in mind. although ive almost got a better chance of buying a new-to-me 4wd truck.

yea. hopefully i can build up the funds to do that maybe near the end of the summer or something. if i can im gonna have a project truck. wooo. ive already ordered the stuff to lift my 2wd now, but thats more for looks and style points. with an extra 4wd truck i could do tons of crazy junk for a lot cheaper than if i had to keep it a dder too. well. guess my audio add ons will have to wait till after i get my 4x4. lol.
