yeah when i was doing my timingchain and whatnot i didnt seem that much further to take off the head and everything. I also kinda want to buy a seperate engine and build that over time.. So thats there is no big rush to get it done asap.

Well, tonight I got all the fluids topped off, valves adjusted, fixed a small coolant leak on one of the heater hoses, and put the hood back on. I am amazed at how quiet this engine sounds and the throttle response seems really crisp. I'll be breaking it in from here on out. If anyone is on the fence about building a tired engine, do it! It was quite easy and you know all the inner workings of your own motor.

Just clocked my first hundred miles and the truck is running perfect. I now know what it was like to buy one of these brand new!

great job, looks like it would be really fun to rebuild, I may have to do that someday myself.
