TVV--yes, you need it.
Happens to almost everyone who pulls the TB/intake without knowing this ahead of time~
It CAN be repaired, but it's a PITA. It's not cheap.

Thermal Vacuum Valve - it applies vacuum to the Fuel Vapor Canister to empty it when the engine is running and warm. It's about $65. Yes, you do need it.
Others have reported successfully repairing it; I tried, and failed. The reason it broke is that the plastic becomes crumbly over the years due to heat. In my case, there wasn't "enough" good plastic to glue to. If you want to try, search this forum. There are some very good write-ups.
