oil leak from pass. cv axle connection
1990 4runner 3.0 auto
leak at connection between front diff and passenger side cv axle
I have been trying to figure this out for a while, I am not sure what can be leaking in that area, maybe a leak from about it and the fluid just like to collect there.
It looks a little greenish, texture of oil, not a specific odor. I have toyota red coolant.

It could be the side oil seal http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...le/22repla.pdf but even in your picture it doesn't look like SAE 75W90. So I'd go with your first idea; it's coolant leaking from somewhere else.
So get it sparkling clean (use spray degreaser, a garden hose, and brush), roll it around a bit, and look carefully.

That would be your inner diff axle seal leaking. I have the same problem marlin crawler has the seals ive got two from him sitting oj my shop I need to replace the same one as you passenger side. Just gotta undo the Cv n pop out the shaft from the diff held in by a cclip n change seal.

So that goes in the area between where the axel bolts up to the diff?

Is it a standard or automatic? I had a similar leak turned out to be the rubber hose for the clutch slave cylinder. My vehicle has a metal line that runs from the clutch master cylinder to the right of the vehicle along the fire wall. The metal line goes into a rubber flex line and is routed to a metal bracket that is attached to the right side engine cylinder head. The rubber flex hose attaches to a metal line again which is routed to the slave cylinder. the flex hose is difficult to see because it is under the bundle of vacuum lines going to the upper plenum. Anyway when it was leaking it looked like oil and it was dripping just aft of the right side axle. The fluid also coated several other parts on its journey which made finding it difficult. I did not notice any issues with the clutch until one day it just stopped working. hope this helps
