No 1 air hose
Trying to pull the no. 1 air hose off the reed valve to get under the air intake chamber. There is so little space, its tough to break the hose loose. Anybody had trouble getting this loose? The hose runs vertically behind the reed valve before curving towards driver side and going under the chamber.

@corax- AIR valve. the reed valve is part of the air injection reaction system- the efi equivalent of the air pump used on carb'd engines. uses pulses in the exhaust and intake systems to inject clean air into the exhaust to help the catalytic converter.

The only way I was able to get the PAIR hose off was to lift the plenum as far as I could (which isn't too far; that's why you're trying to remove the PAIR hose in the first place!), then remove the bolts holding the metal piping that lies beneath the plenum. With a little bit of jiggling, you can remove the plenum and leave the piping behind. Then there is enough room to get to the PAIR hose.
The problem isn't just lack of space, it's lack of leverage. You can barely get your hand in there, and once you do you don't have anything to push against.

OK I think I know what your talking about now. yeah that hose is usually stuck on pretty good. with the clamp off try twisting the hose back and forth, or you can slid a small screwdriver between the hose and nipple to loosen it up

Its a 94 V6 (3VZE).
Thanks for the replies. Yup, no room for much. Ever considered removing the hood for more room? I've tried the screwdriver trick. Thats my SOP for breaking other hoses free. There just isn't much room, even for a keychain screwdriver. I'll probably give the mini pry a try. What did you leverage that against? I've tried similar attempts already, so I'll probably end up unbolting the tube thats beneath the plenum. How many bolts are there? Ever considered removing the entire reed valve and VSV, if that will even solve the problem. The FSM doesn't give any detail for doing so.

well now I'm going off over into the other corner to do 'over in the corner things'. I don't have a V6 to look at and deal with so now my time (what little it actually was to begin with) has been wasted. I'm fairly confident that the V6 has similar components to the 22RE, but that would've been nice to know when you first asked for help.

ah that thing! ok you use a 90° needle nose and go from under the truck up then you just pull the band back and then grab the hose itself and wiggle it off the side thats on the bowl you can just take that of by hand i did

You can't come up from under the truck to get to that on a 3.0. I can't remember what I used for leverage. I know that I did stick the mini pry bar underneath the hose and went around between it and the valve to try to free it up some.
