my new exhaust :)

Hey guys pretty new to the forum. Just added a new exhaust to my truck. went to napa and picked up some peices and a cherry bomb turbo series muffler. Came out to 80$ after tax and sounds GREAT. Little bit more pep and his a nice deep tone. Just thought ide share.

you may want to think about extending that over the rear axle and not pointing it at the tire

I've got one of those also. I paid 35 bucks for the muffler at autozone. not too loud but sounds pretty nice w/o the cat too.

I'd also comtemplate a hanger at the back since the only thing holding it up is a 2 bolt flange. I'd have done a turn-down tip pointing at the ground if I was gonna do the muffler that way.
But it doesn't look bad...

Are those all bolt-on parts? Or was there any welding involved?

im going to be getting a shorter cat delete and putting the pipe eventually right out the side with a boom tube tip. Its all bolt on hardware mainly because i want it to easily come on and off for aircare (Canada). I was going to point it to the ground then realized it just sits way to low. It could get hooked up on things very easily. i have made sure the heat isn't around anything that will be ruined. I love it though and im not smelling any fumes while sitting at a red light, So i think it all good. And as for a hanger. I bought a hanger and then realized there is nothing to hang it from. all there is, is the floor board in that spot and to put a hanger anywhere else it would be on to much of an angle and wouldnt be doing any hanging.

Yup, you really have got to get that exhaust exiting from under the frame/body.
It's real dangerous as it is now.

We've got Drive Clean out here in Ontario, and that exhaust will get you pulled over. There was a mechanic out here that had a F150, a Lightening I think, that had the factory exhaust dump in front of the rear tire. He was forever getting pulled over for it. Every time he'd fight the ticket, and every time he'd win, but he kept getting the same ticket from different cops.

Anyway, get a high flow cat, route your exhaust do dump properly, and don't worry about switching around to get past some test. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Unless you're just hacking up an old truck to go bomb with it...

Ya you guys are aright. Most of my friends just cut the ehxaust 1 foot after the cataylitic converter and point it to the ground. With no muffler or anything. And non of them are bugged around here. We get tickets for speeding not much for sound. Especially where i live it isnt a big city or anything. But i will deffintly take all ur advice thank you.

One good reason to extend the pipe out from underneath the body is because there is a tonne of moisture in exhaust fumes. When you're stopped, alot of that is going to condense on the metal of the body. Then you get more rust.

yea and ill give a good piece of advise a mechanic told me when i started working on my toyotas
"if your going to fix it, make sure you fix it better" ie. make it look better than stock. use all wire clips and clamps. dont half ass rush. and youll have a truck you can be proud of sayin that you do all the work yourself..

welcome to yotatech

hah, I did something like that temporarily when my original muffler with 285k on if started rusting out...

I hated the way it sounded though... I put a Dynomax on it and piped it back over the axel and out where it should be... it sounds pretty much stock now, lol

As far as sound goes dynomax seems to be a little louder under hard acceleration but slightly quieter at idle and while cruising. Still exhaust note is deep and rumbly not ricer weenie, oops I meant winy...check it here - Dynomax power offer
