Intermittent starting problem with 22RE!!! Help

Last summer I noticed my truck would an intermittent starting problem. I would get acc.. power but it wouldn't even turn over let alone start! It did this for about a week and then the problem went away. Since last summer, I've replaced the starter, hooked up some new battery terminals and I also put In a freshly re-built 22re from Attarco which isn't relevant, but after a few months I'm starting to get the same problem back! I try to crank it over several times and it doesnt turn over at all, but i still get acc power to everything else like lights and stero. Then I will try it again after a couple minutes and it turns over and starts imediately. So what do you guys think? could it most likely be a loose or dirty connection at the ignition switch or is it the coil going out??

I have the same problem with my 86 4runner and I'm pretty certian it is the ignition switch. I can leave the key in the run postion and use a jumper wire from the battery to the signal (small) wire on the starter and it will start right up.

yeah, I'm left to believe it's the ignition switch, but I might tinker with it and find out! What sucks is the ignition on our yotas are in the steering column.

possibly neutral safety switch? Try wiggling the shifter back and forth while in crank position, tehn put it in neutral and wiggel it there too. Otherwise I am guessing perhaps a loose/dirty ground somewhere, or maybe a relay.

Might have a point there.. we are already in the 80's here yet 3 weeks ago we had our last snow. 2 seasons here, cold, hot.

That said I would lean toward the ignition switch.

Also, you turn your key to ACC and all electrical items come on, what do they do when you roll it over to crank position? Anything dim?

COR relay ....... AFM/COR start circuit....... Cor relays go bad since these trucks are getting on in age. They are also not sealed and get condensation in them and rust.
