You're going to need a lot more help, start reading here: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/front_end/

The part you removed is called an ADD flange, it uses the same gasket (paper) as a manual hub. You could use RTV too, but its harder to do trail repairs with the RTV for a gasket.

x2.

There are lots of things, like torque settings, you'll need before you put this back together

Then simply remove the bolts again. The cone washers will fly off so watch your eyes. You might have to tap a couple but nothing difficult at all. There is no need for a torch or anything like that. I didn't even have to use penetrating spray.

Good luck,

Yeah...this is exactly how not to do it.... I did the same thing my first time, and those cones fubar'd the threads on the bolts.... use the screwdriver method, or brass drift, just dont beat the housing too hard, heat helps a lot also.

I've successfully replaced the old CV joint and I am now in the process of putting things back together. I noticed the part in the picture with the 7 bolts around it has a cut in the rubber and I need to replace it. Anyone know what it's called?

did this really take you 8 months?

jk...

I honestly cannot remember the name for that thing, and I left it alone when I did my wheel bearings last. I believe it's more or less just a dust sheild, as the inner seal on the bearing hub assymbely is actually what keeps the grease from getting out, or water from getting in for that matter

It is just a seal that bolts to the spindle. Comes in all knuckle service kits or get separately from the dealer.

Well I finally got the hub assembly back on there, and the 4Runner is back down on all four wheels. I have to torque the differential bolts before taking it for a little test drive. Next up: a) passenger side rotor replacement b) uninstalling the factory alarm (TVSS piece of crap).

Thanks to the community of members for their help on this particularly challenging job.
