Heat not working
So here's the deal, I have a 1988 22-RE 4x4 and it's been super cold in Wyoming lately. The heater can cook a turkey...when it works. For the most part, it works on a regular basis. However, there are days when it just won't blow hot air and it would be nice to have some heat. 
The blower still works and all, but no heat. So, I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it?

hey, I had this problem before and just topped up my coolant level with water, also your thermostat could be pooched! quick, cheap and easy fix as well. other than that your heater core could be going but i doubt it, prob one of the 2 things i mentioned. keep me updated!

Yea, I was thinking the thermostat. The temp gauge will get a little above normal then all of a sudden it will start to fall into the low end of normal in the temp range.
I do notice when I play around with the fan control, it will turn on after awhile. It makes a little clicking sound when it comes on.

Yea, thanks by the way. I was given this truck and fell in love with Toyotas after awhile. Far and away, the best.

you should start with these 2 easy checks:
1 - check coolant level in both reservoir and overflow tank.
2 - if coolant levels are good check your water pump. to do a quick test, pinch the top radiator hose closed with your hand while the engine is running at idle, and then release it. you should feel a surge of coolant if the water pump is working correctly.

although I think he would have a little more worse side effects than no heater if his water pump crapped out... like, ummm, overheating maybe?
sounds to me like either A) air in the system, or B) bad thermostat... both of which are easy fixes
