Actually what I decided to do is buy an aftermarket performance ingnitor from Toyhead Auto. Its cheaper and more powerful. Its the Igniter Box, Multiple Spark Discharge Ignitions System.

I'll let you know how it works.

Hard to see, but it says 22R on the side (in light blue print) and it's an 88 22RE in the engine bay, EFI and all right there... even the resistor for the injectors on the right fender well.

On a whim I pulled the distributer cap and cranked the engine to see if it was even spinning and it wasn't. So I pulled it out and a bunch of teeth were broken off. So I'm guessing thats why there is no spark and why it was misfiring before.
Tommorro I'll install a new one. Maybe it wasn't the ignitor at all.

I don't really know how the teeth break off. But they were definitely snapped off in like 5 places. I'll try to take a picture.

it's weird that if 5 teeth were broken the distibutor still wouldn't spin... since the gear is helical cut... unless a 5 teeth were next to each other.
THEN you have to wonder WHY 5 teeth were borked... and I'd venture to say that if there were broken teeth on the dizzy driven gear, there'd be broken teeth on the cam drive gear.
