A.D.D to Manual Question
In have a 91 truck V6(Auto)with A.D.D system.I dont want the driveshaft and CV axles spinning constantly. If I get a set of Aisin hubs from a 4runner and install, will that eliminate the driveshaft and cv's always spinning?I dont care about shift on the fly 4wd and dont mind getting out and locking them when I need 4wd.Is there anything else I have to do other than install the manual hubs?I searched but cant find an answer. Thanks for any information.

If your driveshaft is turning, the ADD is not working. What lockable hubs give you (other than another point of failure) is they disconnect the half-shafts from the wheels, so the half-shafts don't turn while in 2wd.

I still would rather have locking hubs than the ADD system. I don't see your point of "another point of failure". We get more questions about ADD problems than manual hub problems just saying

Hrddrvs wasn't talking about "instead," but "in addition to." If you're worried about the reliability of ADD (some are), you could probably lock it into "engaged" and use locking hubs. A permanently locked ADD might be more reliable than one that switches ... your choice.
If Hrddrvs's ADD really isn't working correctly, it might be worth understanding why. If it's already not working, there is no guarantee it won't get worse.
