OK, not so much a saga. 3.0 300k km. been leaking out the reaR OF BOTH hg for a year, finally on monday...poof, big cloud at the drive thru window..hahaa, the girl was not impressed, I was not mad or suprised. Trip to dealer for gasket kit (at half the cost of an aftermarket one).
So reassembly of top end in progress, dropped all my shim buckets on the floor, so setting the valves will be done. But the best thing is I finally decided that driving a 20 yr old 4R with 35's and a soft top as a daily driver is not the way to go, so after much deliberation an 09 tacoma is coming home to stay with us for a while.It will be keeping the 95 PU, the 89 4R and the 91 2wd putt putt company. I am excited. Of course this new truck will remain on the road only for at least 5 years. Now the rest of the projects can be worked on at leisure.BTW , its a red, 5spd , 4 cyl access cab and I pick it up in a couple hours. Did I mention i was excited???

Question on the valve shims, where is the best way to set them shown? FSM? What year FSM? My 89 is same as 90-95 correct? Anyone do a write up on this? Thanks. Mike
