Alternator or Battery?
Alright guys heres the deal, I just got my Pro Comp Lights both are 130watts. There not going on till i get my prerunner bar in so i been thinkin alot lately but i am kinda confused on an issue. I dont plan on running the lights all the time i just want to use then we i need them. Also other than the lights i plan on putting a system in my truck, probably two tens or whatever. I have read around alot and havent really come to any conclusion.
My Question is: Will the stock 22re alternator be able to keep up with the amps or wattage that i need to run my lights and the system? Would i be better off get a high output alternator or would a deep cycle battery do the trick for me?

The two additional lights is over 20 Amps additional draw. Don't know your trucks alternator output and don't know how many amps are drawn with all the lights are on. If the battery dies, suspect more drawn than charged. Best wire them to the battery directly with a fuse or relay and big wire. Wire it to anything else and it will probably turn your wiring into a fusable link with meltdown impending. Bigger battery will not help if the alternator can not keep up with the demand and deep cycle is for trolling motors.

Boyle Future Technology. Do a search on here for them. I had my Denso upgraded to 60 amps at idle, 130 amps max, for @ $170 shipped both ways from the east coast (they are in California). You want the highest amps at idle you can get. Forget about claims of higher amps; they suck until you hit max rpms. My alt. came back looking BRAND NEW!

how powerful of subs were you thinking? but that is pushing the limit of the stock alternator. optima batteries are a waste of money unless you need the whole sealed jell thing, walmart batteries power your truck just the same as optima batteries, your best bet is upgrading your alternator so you dont have to worry if you are drawing too much power or not and you will have room to upgrade to more lights/bigger system or whatever down the road.
