91 4 runner engine demoblizer alarm system
So I just bought this truck and the alarm went off this morning when I was leaving my house. I was wondering if anyone knows how to disable the stupid thing so that my truck will start so I can go to work.
I called the local toyota dealership to ask if they knew how to disable it and they argued with me that the alarm wasn't stock in the vehicle. they told me to tow the vehicle to them so that they could look at it.
thanks in advance.

Look at the connections to the battery...if theres anything extra take it off and see if it works...you might need a wrench or a pair of pliers or somethin...

so I disconnected the battery. that didn't do anything except set the alarm off. I have no idea what I am looking at for wiring stuff to disconnect the stupid thing. I am running out of ideas...

okay, look around, there is probably a little red led light somewhere inside the cab that should blink when the alarm is armed. you can take apart the pannel and follow those wires it should take you to the source.
is there any rmotes with the keys? what kind of alarm, if you can get the brand, you can get the instructions and you might want to keep it. Along with the alarm, there should be a horn inside the engine bay that emmits the alarm sound, disconnect and there shouldn't be any sound after.
I don't really know much about the alarms just trying to help you from having it go off every time you start the thing
It sounds to me like you just need to get the alarm to quit going off?

Same problem. Was working on emission problem, failed Nox,replaceing vacuum line and decided to clean battery terminals. When I went to start my runner the alarm went off and it would not start. I have read countless threads to no avail. I would rather reset it as opposed to tearing it out as it has been no problem till now. I know it is something simple.
1992 4runner V6 3.0 automatic w/little red light and small toggle switch. Any input would be great as it's my only transport

you will be looking for a small black box tied way up under your dash...up high by the gauge cluster. There will be a mess of wires plugged into it and 3 fuses right there. Pull them all and your truck should start.

Turns out my battery gave up! In the time it took to clean the terminals and reconnect them, it died. Still read 12.73volts on my meter, but alas, she was done. Put new battery in this morning which triggered the alarm, but it reset itself as soon as the truck started!! Hope this helps someone.

Ahhh.... so the alarm WAS working! Low voltage alert got ya! That's cool that you have a new battery and (hopefully) a fully functional alarm! No wiring guesswork necessary after all!
