Jason -
Like some of the others, I didn't have much trouble pulling mine off with just my hands (no screwdrivers, even). So my experience won't help.
But if the woodruff key (shaped like a half-moon, I guess) is cocked a little it might jam. You might try to VERY GENTLY tap directly on the woodruff key to see if it will rock every so slightly and release the balancer.
Good luck, and let us know what happens.

Jason,
I just did this same job on my 92 a couple weeks ago. Like yours, my crank gear was semi-frozen, but I gave it a couple shots of PB Blaster penetrating oil, then used the 2 screwdriver trick like the FSM says, and was able to work it off the crankshaft. To get the seal out, I carefully drilled a hole thru the seal, and used a drywall screw to pull it out. For the new seal installation, I used a piece of PVC pipe (1.5 inch diameter I think) to drive the seal into place, again very carefully to make sure it went in straight. Hope this helps...

I've tried tapping the woodruff key slightly, the screwdriver trick, outting the harmonic balancer back on and hitting the bolt with the impact to try & jiggle it free..... NOTHING is working. This is crazy!!
Thanks guys,
Jason

Jason,
Maybe another thing to try is slightly heating up the crank gear with a torch. Not too much, you don't want the seal to melt or the PB Blaster to ignite... Good Luck!

Guys:
All the planets must have FINALLY come into alignment!! I just went out after soaking it for nearly 24 hours in PB Blaster and going to the parts store and renting several different pullers to try and make one that could get a bit on this thing....
I decided to try the screwdriver method outlined in the FSM one last time, and it moved a little. A few more attempts with the screwdriver, and it slid right off!!
YEAH!!
So, lesson for the day is:
Use liberal amounts of both time and penetrating oil, and EVENTUALLY it will come off. Thankfully, I am not in a hurry to get this project done. If I were, I would've drilled and tapped it and it would have been off 2 days ago!
Thank you all VERY much for all your help and suggestions!
