The rears, unlike previously stated, are NOT as simple as swapping the frames around. For the backs, that works. For the bottoms, there are SIGNIFICANT differences that require some fabrication if you want things to be right. Now, if you don't care about your seat bottoms latching and want to drill holes in your floor pan, then sure, they'll bolt right in.

But nowhere close to fitting using existing holes, even with swapping frames. Can't just swap covers either, as the frames are shaped differently. Here's some pictures....

The original 85 frame is on top, 94 frame on the bottom... Notice how far off the brackets for the legs are.

Now I'm posting this because I searched the CRAP out of this topic before I pulled the trigger on this swap, thinking that if all I had to do was the seat backs, hey, too easy. And that part is very easy by the way. BUT those SAME threads said the bottoms weren't a problem either, and yet here I am. I'm going to cut and weld and make the old frame fit the foam like I should, but I know not all of you can pull that off, so I'm putting it out there for the rest of you so you know. Pictures don't lie!

I put in seats from an '04(?) Solara and it was bolt in. Kinda.... Definitely no welding though. And it slides/reclines/elevates as it should. Cut the rivets holding the Solara mounting tabs onto the tracks, cutoff wheel. Cut a piece of aluminum angle to bolt to existing front mount holes on truck, Sawzall. Drilled out angle to match truck holes, drill and bit. Then measured, drilled and bolted seat tracks to aluminum angle. Front mounts done. Rear tabs were close, but I did have to drill one hole. So new hardware and thick fender washers and its as solid as the original, but an awesome seat, which the original was not. And it's a Toyota seat.... That's all that really mattered.

Are you talking about front seats? Because those fit fine. I'm talking specifically about the rears.

My '84 pickup doesn't have rear seats. How in the world is there even enough room back there for a seat? I barely have room for a speaker box...

Oh, putting 2nd gen RUNNER seats in a 1st gen RUNNER...

I haven't been on here in some time, but I am probably one of the first people to post about swapping 2nd gen cushions on to the 1st gen frames for the rear seats in 1st gen 4runners. You have probably seen this write up?

Unless there's a difference in seat designs for later 2nd gen models, this was a pretty direct swap. I had to cut out some cushion material, if I recall, but that was all on the back side of the seats and did not affect the comfort of the passenger.

It's been several years since I did this, but I did this in preparation for my fiance/now wife, using this truck as her daily driver. It did take all day, but we were both impressed with the results and her teacher friends that rode in the back never had any issues with the seating.

Once you get the cushions on to the frame, you are golden. Just cut otu the back side of the cushions to get a proper fit. Cut a little at a time until you get it to work. Hope this helps with your dilemma.
