Should I put grey sealer on the block side of TC gasket and the TC side? How about the water pump gasket? Both sides? I tried searching here but did not find this info.

Book says to dry fit them. But personally I put a dab at each bolt hole to keep a gasket from sliding around too much. Definately put some on the flange and upper section of the single bolt from the head to the TC under the distributor cam, that puddle is just a leak waiting to happen.

Agree on this too. What I do is take a big glob of Toyota form in place gasket (FIPG - get it at the dealer - the black kind, not red [that's for gear oil stuff like trannies]) and smear it on the end of the timing cover bolt that installs under the cam gear, then install the bolt right away - this kind of gums up that hole and helps stave off any leaks from the puddle that forms there. This is the "hidden bolt" everyone talks about.

 

Copper spray a gasket. Much cleaner than rtv if you

Hmm of all the times I've replaced heads and timing covers I have never done that and I usually end up with a leak or seep right there.
