22r wont fire
A little history first. I have an '84 4runner SR5. A few months back i blew a head gasket and then spun a bearing. So then I scraped that motor and dropped in a freshly rebuilt 22r. It was originally a 22re but the blocks were both laser cut so I no there was no prob with that.
Now Ive got the swap done, take into mind that it would fire before the swap. Now I have tripple checked the wires and cleaned them. All vacuum hoses are connected as are the grounds. The timing is also dead on and the rotor is pointing to the number one cyl. The voltmeter says the coil is getting power but im not getting any spark to the plugs. The wires are new 7mm as are the NGK pulgs wich are gapped right. The coil worked before the swap, so what is going on?
Thanks in advance.

Not enough information to help so I'll ask a couple questions to start trouble shooting.
a. Did you check the spark with the coil wire to ground?
b. Are you sure your rotor inside the distributor is turning?

Is everything in the distributor the same? If the pickup inside the distributor gets to big of a gap the coil would have power, but none would get to the spark plugs
Sorry i don't remember teh official term, but i am talking about the "fins" on teh metal part below the rotor, and the pickup for them. They should be fairly close.

A problem I had on my 85 22re was that I had the hood off in 90 or so heat and the ignitor was getting direct sunlight. The box was hot to the touch and the motor would start. I put clothe over it for a while to cool it off and than the motor would start.

i think it might be the igniter... but it was working just fine before i put a different cab on... im still using the igniter from the old cab and i have tried the one from the new cab and still nothing... any ideas those damn things are way too expensive
