going stock again
I have a sick 83 yota, 5.29 front and rear, locker front and rear, dual t case, 37 14.5 iroks on a 5 in TG lift, doug thornley headers, weber carb.
Just one problem. I bought it from Oregon and I live in cali. I have to reinstall the stock carb, get the original 22r headers, reinstall cat. is all this worth doing to register this truck? I like the truck but i got an insane deal on it, so i could sell it back up in oregon in make money. I am good at workin on cars, done the 3.4 swap and many other things. But i know nothing about carbureted trucks.

Yeah, you are pretty close to OR still, at least. I have to go back to Portland area(where parents live and my Runner is registered) every 2 years to go through DEQ there cause it wouldn't pass a visual inspection down here with the intake I used for my 3.4 swap. If you got a screaming deal on it, I'd probably do like Josh said, cause that's alot of work to replicate that truck, and probably more money than you'd get selling it. Then if you want, you can kinda take your time getting the right parts to smog it in Cali.

another idea is to get the CA smog-certified Weber carb and a kit from LCE to run emissions crap on a header. Then have an exhaust shop bolt on a cat. If you're a good driveway mechanic that's a $300-400 job. Alot cheaper and easier than going fully stock. The rest of the emissions junk (EGR, smog pump) can be had from the board for a song.
