'79 Toyota transmission.
I hope this in the right place.
My father has a 1979 Toyota Motor home (now converted with a little cab for sleeping on back and a flatbed).
I took it for a little test drive at my father request because he said first gear was making some noised from time to time. My little test drive of it, from time to time, it sounded like the gears were conflicting and the only way to stop it was to take it out of first or push in the clutch. I'm thinking the transmission is going out (we have replaced the transmission before when it only had 4th gear).
We have invested a bit into it mechanically, all new brakes and everything, radiator, front end, alternator, batteries, converting it from a motor home, etc. Its a great work vehicle as my father is a contractor but he is wondering if its worth it to fix it again.

Probably would be good to change that tranny out for one from a newer truck. The early trannies were the weak point on the trucks. I'm assuming yours is a 2wd. Should be able to find a newer 2wd tranny somewhere for cheap. I've got a 78 2wd pickup with 5 speed up in the bush here. No clue how anything on it is as the frame is rusted in half and can't move at all. Biggest thing you would have to do is get new driveshafts made up and possibly a crossmember. I'd say go for it.

Thanks.
I PMed my Email.
I'll be leaving in a bit for work, got to drive all the school kids home. I'll probably be going over to pick it up, probably in 1.5 weeks or so (on a weekend) if that works for you.
