22r wont idle!!

alright first off i have a 80 p/u with a 83 22r with a weber carb with electric choke, it was running perfect yesterday, went to start it today and it fired and died, then seemed like it was flooded after that. after about fifteen minutes got it started but when you let off the gas ..just dies. but, when i turned up the idle to about 1500 it will stay running but has a slight miss.its firing to all plugs, and still runs and drives perfect at 1500 and above.just went through the valves and a complete tuneup last weekend.it WAS running perfect. could it have flooded and fouled the plugs? im at a loss here.

I am possitive its your idle fuel shut off vavle...that is what mine was as long as I would give it gas it would run but soon as I let off it would die...Its that little thing on the back of the carb kinda under the choke it has tow wire runing to it I just figured out what two prongs in the plug where to the IFSV and tested it by connecting one to the hot post and one to the ground post on the battery and it ran fine..I replaced the plug to fix my issue..

I hope that makes sense.

just run some jumper wires and see if the thing clicks...you could pull your breather off stand out side the truck and have some one turn the key on and off a couple of times and see if you can hear the cut off valve click if not hold your finger on it to see if you can feel it click...If not then you get to figure out if its the valve or the wireing.. mine ended up being a ground problem!!!

well,it clicks,i jumpered it and even rewired the connection and ,it clicks. so ,no change ,still starts up by pumping the gas ,will run at abour 1500 rpm and up,let off and just dies.so im gonna start in the back and work forward.gas filter, fuel pump, etc.any other ideas?

Man those are the exact same symptoms mine was having ....just when I knew what it was it wasn't sorry bout that...LOL...If you close off the primary barrel with your fingers will it run with just a little crack inbetween your fingers? Also check for vacuum leaks!
