Scion HU in 2nd Gen
I was thinking about buying the Scion In-Dash 6 CD Changer/MP3 player. Would that fit in a second gen? Would I have to take a hack saw to my dash to make it fit? Whaddya guys think?

And here is a link to my personal experience with this install, I am 'toytaco'...

Unless you are going to buy a 6 disc unit brand new, I would strongly suggest you just go with the single disc unit. I have seen about 8 posts about the 6 disc changer not working after being disconnected from power. Some seem to think it has to do with the changer not being 'locked' for shipping, but no one has been able to verify that. One person on scionlife did receive their unit 'locked', but has been unable to 'unlock' the damn thing. I have for the meantime given up my 6 disc unit. Pioneer said they would fix it for the small fee of $170.
Instead, I went out and got an '05 single cd unit for $100 on eBay. It works perfectly.
The single disc has all the same features as the 6 disc except the color changing display. Also, get an '05 instead on an '04. They have a couple extra neat features.

Looks like you trimmed the dash/outer cover instead of the faceplate. Just curious, Why did you go that route instead of trimming the faceplate for a cleaner look?
So does your disc changer work???
Was it 'locked' when you got it and how did you unlock it?
You are a only the second person I have seen to get the 6 disc to work for them in a swap...

The faceplate would have take alot more work and wouldn't turn out good at all. The dash sticks out a little but it's not really noticable.
The changer works great. It wasn't locked, I got it locally.

Was it brand new, never used when you got it ???
Thanks again for your help with all my questions.
A lot of people on the scionlife boards are trying to figure out what makes these units take a crap when they are removed....
