I was playing around with photoshop today trying to come up with ideas for a rear bumper for the runner. I want to still be able to tow stuff and I want some type of tube bumper. I really like all the plate bumpers but I am not sure if I want to add that much weight. The thought I had was to move the hitch up and then tie into that with some tubing and wrap around like marlin, allpro, etc.. Also tieing into the frame from the side as well. Don't laugh at my photochop skills, and obviously the tubing probably isn't to scale but let me know what you think.



Now I just need to find a good welder who needs some tile work done and I am set!

I will probably just have something made by a local welder/fabricator. I already heard the scoop about kenmtn. I just was wondering if this was even remotely feasible, so that I have more of an idea when I go to the welder.

Jason, I like your bumper, and I found it while searching. So I didn't forget you. I still want to be able to tow and that is the only thing I don't like about tube bumpers. I may try to have a tire carrier made similar to yours. I would like to have it look similar to yours with the exception of having the hitch in the center and the tube tieing into the hitch.

Yea just integrate a hitch reciever to the bottom of the tube or something, curve a piece of open tube to be flush with the bumper, then make it flat on the bottom so the hitch can sit strong.

I always heard that it was iffy to tow when they were mounted like that, or is that just because the makers don't want to be liable for something going wrong?

I will have to take you up on that offer. This will be something done later in the year anyways. I was just really bored so thought I would try to photochop something close to what I had in my head. Your runner is looking good! You're gonna walk all over mine when you get down here.
