NWOR 302 Ford to R150 bellhousing
Has anyone used them? I have dealt with NWOR in the past and being a member, I read all kinds of stuff on them. While my purchase with them was good, their knowledgable staff didn't seem to be quite helpful. I want to do this conversion since I have the R150 and a 302. I just want to make sure these bellhousings are made well.

A friend of mine used the NW kit to put his 85 4Runner transmission behind the Ford 302. 5speed behiund an old 4cyl. The kit doesn't come with a flywheel that he got from Summit racing. The flywheel had to be 164 tooth with some imbalance. He is still working on his.

The 4 cylinder kits were $659 in the old catalog I have(catalog 22). I would assume this kit is probably close to $750? Like I said, I don't want to buy another trans but knowing people are using W56's behind V8's and surviving is somewhat a relief. Besides I kind of wheel my Yota hard and the motor I will be putting in it will be a Mustang HO motor so I don't think it may not handle it. Front what I read on the net is that if you take it easy they will last. Take it easy? With a V8? Why put a V8 in it then?

I just called NWOR today on the bellhousing. They said they don't even have them yet. The told me they were hoping by next week to have them. The guy said it would cost roughly $650-$750! Still would like to go with the V8 though.

I've had a 5.0 in my 4Runner since 1993 and in 2000 I swapped to a 5 speed using a Oz R series/Ford bell. Ask NWOR if they are actually casting them or are they a Dellows bellhousing from Oz
I actually sent a Oz R series/Ford bell to a guy in NY a few years ago.
You are wise. Do not use a W or G series as they are not strong enough. My 5.0 has around 350rwhp and in a few months I plan to rebuild it as a 347 so that will increase. The R series is rated at around 700-800hp so its not a problem.
Wait and do it right as it will save you money in the long term.
Good luck
