maybe i missed it but are you adding this as a secondary tank? or a replacement for the stock one?

and if its a secondary.... why? hehe I can stuff 18 gallons into my stock tank on the trug, granted i dont ever do long wood trips, hell i dont travel very far in it period but i can easily spend an entire day in the mtns on a qtr tank wheeling. Just curious your intentions

RMA has a v8. granted it gets better MPGs than the v6, but not as good as the 4 cylinder. besides. it never hurts to have more fuel! not to mention, he travels pretty good distance to go wheeling with us in sacramento.

you didnt miss anything man i didnt post it .

i will be removing or already removed the original tank .. just adding this one to get a couple more gallons and getting a tank up higher than the original one.

i will build or buy a perfect size tank for fresh water to add in the place where the original gas tank was , just not have it sit so low.theres been a couple trips where i wish i had some extra good clean water.

Theres so many gas stations around i really dont need 35+ plus gallons .. my kids get pretty restless ,quick anyway ... with the old tank i could drive around 4 hrs on the highway before i had to fill up

So after extending the ford pump wires .. i deecided i just wasnt feeling using the ford pump , I cut it off and am now using the toyota pump
heres the pics .
the solder im using for any one thats interested

picked up some connectors .. original fuel pump and sender connectors off a 4runner

flange and breather vent off 4runner tank (not mine another 4runner)

cut and solder breather

a little to much solder

cut and mount toyota fuel pump bracket assembly attacher deal

I wanted to solder this but decided not to, the fords is soldered and i didnt want to mess it up so i just used the original ford type mounting oring clamp deal.

tweaked pump bracket

done .i am gonna extend the wiring and mount this sob

clean work!

you should check out my fuel tanks placement on my truggy.... you wanna talk about up and out of the way I had thought about originally building a skid for it with the process of the rear build but that was low priority now its no priority, no point. It's so out of the way it'd take a serious rogue branch to mess with it and i avoid that kind of debri

Thanks!! so i buttoned it all up all i need is to mount the shock.I filled the tank using a 2 gallon can,it went pretty good no problems filling.I then started the truck and quickly started to inspect all connections...one leak, at the pump bracket.i forgot to solder the ford flange to the toyota flange before i installed to the tank..will be doing that tonight.

so almost done here just need to redo the exhaust . put 2 gallons with a fuel can then went and filled up 17.46 gallons .. so a little over 19 gallons .. no leaks and while i was filling up it did not stop once, so pretty happy about that .

Very nice improvement

Never understood why toyota didn't go with a 20gal tank in the first place. I mean is another 5 gallons gonna add that much weight. I can understand 15gal on the 4runners as theres less room because of the rear seating. (Gas tanks always sit lower on those anyways.) But the pickups could easily have a 20gal tank. Guess you gotta do what RMA did. Nice mod.
