Hello all,

I have a stock 1995 Toyota 4runner with 4wd and automatic transmission. Im a college student in Flagstaff.

Im looking to either a mild 2inch body lift or maybe considering a 1.5inch rear spring replacement with ball joint spacers in the front for some lift. Im wondering, which will give me more lift? Costs? If anyone can help me with either install? Any pros/cons? etc.

Im a newer member of the Yotatech forums, but looking to get wheeling with some fellow members ASAP.


Ive been reading a lot of the forums on here, but some answers to me, are still kind of rusty to me.


For instance, with a mild 2inch body lift, what causes the issue of needing the shifting linkage extension? Will I have any problems with linkage after installing the 2inch body lift with the 4crawlers A/T linkage extension? and so on.


Lastly, I'm a student has done many mods to Accords, but now looking for physical help with a lift in the Arizona area. I'm looking for help, so I can also learn the mods in the 4x4 world. I dont have a garage or the tools to do it or physical help. I will pay someone to help. Ive called shops around Flagstaff, looks like it would run me 200 for a body lift and 500 for body lift install. Dont have that kind of money.


Plzs have experience in this area.

I'm NEW to Yotatech, so still learning the ropes.
Any other ideas or mods that would be great looking on a 1995 4Runner, plzs let me know. Im up for anything.

If i was to do a cheap and effective lift I would look into land cruiser coils for the rear and the ball joint spacers. You should be able to rent the spring compressors for free from AUTOZONE TOOL LOANS then you will need a whiz wheel for the bj spacers and general tools and a jack/jack stands it would be fairly easy to do yourself about a 6 out of 10. You might even find a write up or two about how to do the installs with the search feature here the ball joint spacers you can find the wright up on S.D.O.R.I. web page. then you need a front wheel aliment so you can get away pretty cheap this way and get a pretty capable rig for cheap.

I've got a 1" BL on my 3rd gen. Did it myself in about 3 hours and was working very slowly, taking a lot of breaks. All you need are the basic tools, a high-lift jack, and a block of wood. I'd recommend keeping 1.5" a below. That way you avoid any other issues. It should help you fit larger tires and thus give you more clearance.
