torque rod
Whats the best/cheapest way to modify the torque rod or bracket to adjust for 4 or 5" inch lift on an 84 solid axle? I was trying w a 3" wide piece of channel to raise the bracket higher but it looks like it could hit the oilpan w/o some large bumpstops. I've thought of cutting and lengthening the rod also. Any better ideas or fixes?

Bracket off the axle works well:
Another option:

Have also heard about folks cutting and sleeving the rod to either lengthen it or just welding the sleeve on one end and letting the other end move freely out but stopping on compression to provide the intended function.

I ran a heim joint on the bottom of my torque rod for a few years and it worked fine, no added noise or vibration. Still had a poly bushing at the frame end. I did unbolt it a few times off-road, it did help the front end flex, but there was always the worry of snapping the j-arm on the driver's side of the axle. Eventually went to crossover steering.
