Now, why can't we just all take this line of thought?

I've owned an SA toyota ('82 truck, well built) and three IFS (86, 99, 03). I think it is undeniable that ultimately, SA is more durable for the trail, IFS more cush for the road. That's not to say that either can't be decent for both venues, but IMHO, Toyota engineers went with IFS because it WAS more comfy for the road. They wanted to make the trucks more appealing to a more diverse crowd = more trucks sold. I remember the ride of my 82...the IFS rigs were way smoother on the asphalt. But the bottom line for wheeling is, drive what you got. Push the limits, when you reach them, then go with something more, but experience it first. I've gone wheeling with guys with VERY capable SAS rigs that didn't know how to use them. They made fun of my IFS, untill I danced up what they couldn't get past. I don't claim to have anywhere near the experience that the vast majority of the guys (and girls ) of this community, but I really do think that driver skill is a HUGE factor. As it was said earlier, I feel like a 15 yr old with a permit next to most of the guys on here. Guys like flygenstein and rockota and others have the knowledge they have because they've gone out and wheeled their "junk". And at the end of the day, isn't that what we're all here about? Much respect to all of you who have broken your stuff and figured out better ways of doing things and shared that knowledge so that I can reap the benefit of your experience. Thanks.

Two of Jason Demello's trucks have coilover SAS setup's (well one is Wyatt's '05 Taco) and man they are sweet. Everytime I've gone over there I spend a solid 10 minutes looking at them (even though nothing has changed since the last time I saw them).

I tried to buy that kit, everytime I called it was 3 months out, I see they just updated the website and it is still 3 months out.

Just a note on the topic: If you go long travel and it doesn't work for you you still have an SAS to fall back on. Once you go SAS there is no turning back.

Rockota said we could not talk about high end link suspensions.

That white Taco drives nice, nicer than any other swapped truck I have ever been in.

If you can weld, costs are the same LT versus a swap.

I have leaves up front and links out back. Maybe the best of both worlds?

Why not links all around? or is there a specific advantgae to leafs in front with coils in back?

It's a product of cheap.

Putting leaves on the front of old trucks is easy. I had the bucks to splurge on one end and I thought doing the rear that way would be money well spent.

Ok, that's what I thought. Nothing wrong with that. But 4 link all around is the "holy grail" of setups. I've seen soem of your buildup on the sonoran steel board. Looks awesome.
