newbie lift ?s 96 tacoma
everything in italics is old. new ?s are in bold
ok so know i know a little about lifs, but have some ?s still
ive pretty much decided on(let me know what you think):
front:
full front coilovers(reccomend a brand)
or OME fronts+tundra springs+4crawler bj spacer+3/8" top strut spacers(reccomend something different if you think you should)
rear:
3" rear downey spring pack, procomp es3000rear shocks(reccomend something different if you think you should)
questions
1. do body lifts need brake lines moved/lengthened?
2. what else is needed to make a body lift look/work well besides bumper brackets, steering spacer, shifter modification?
3.what does a ball joint spacer actually involve, what needs to be moved, lengthened with them
4.shackles arent so good are they?
5. what is a panhard bar?
IM a honda car guy sorry. pretty new to 4x4 stuff
i have a 96 tacoma 4wd, v6, ext cab
what i want:
2-6" lift depending on price and install time etc.
for what:
daily driving, 2% off-road, and to clear the 32x11.50 tires that rub at full wheel lock a bit.
i dont know too much about suspension lift vs. body, and i dont want this to cost my right arm...
can you guys help point me in the right direction.

You won't be able to go any higher than 3" before you start having problems with your CVs.

Here's a Tacoma specific list of types of lifts;

For a '96 Tacoma, 3" of suspension lift and 32" tires are an excellent match. I would suggest adjustable coilovers for the front and and AAL or shackles for the rear. That will give you a good combination of durability, adjustability and price as well as a good ride on and off road.

Can't use the ball joint spacers with the Tacoma. They are for the '95 and older pickups and 4Runners. Here is some lift and tire size info:

body lifts are pretty basic, however the taller you get, the more modifications required. other than the ones you mentioned, you would have to drop the radiator, possibly extend battery cables or vacuum lines. i dont know about brake lines...
panhard bars keep the axle centered, and they are meant to be horizontal. when you lift, the panhard becomes angled, so you use a bracket (or an entire new bar) to fix that angle to where it is horizontal.
