My driveshaft is rubbing my gas tank way too much these days.

I know Procomp and Downey sell drop brackets, but I cant find thepart #'s when searching--can someone that has them post up some #'s??

Anyone have one for sale??

I asked Steve (Sonoran Steel) for my 4Runner and he said he didn't make anything. Just call Downey to order it. Tell them what year and model of 4Runner and they'll get you the right part.

Call Summit Racing (1-800-230-3030), ask for a Explorer Pro Comp Panhard drop bracket for your 4runner. They do not list it in their catalog or website so you have to call. I called and they called Pro Comp while I was on the phone, BAM! $35.99, $44.94 drop shipped from Pro Comp to my door. Part Number is EXP-90-1268. Very excellent item and very good price.

Downey was very helpful to me. i would suggest theirs, however i cant imagine everyone else's is that much different. #48258-90 $55. good luck.

Hopefully that will help save my driveshaft and gas tank skid.

Can't you just lengthen the panhard bar by welding in a section with pipe?

That would solve part of the problem, but not all. The idea of the drop bracket is to restore the bar to the stock, parallel to the axle orientation. Why? In order to minimize the pulling to one side as the suspension goes up or down. If the bar is horizontal and goes up or down say 10 degrees, the effective length only changes by 1.5% - cos(0)/cos(10). But if the bar were say at 20 degrees and you cycled the axle up and down to change the panhard angle +/-10 degrees, you would see the effective length change about 13% - cos(10)/cos(30).

When I had my Downey 1.5 inch coils and the panhard drop it fixed the problem, now with the cruiser coils my driveshaft get friendly again.

I do think it helps, but does not entirely solve the problem.

Got ya - understand about the angle change, but doesn't the panhard drop lower the roll center making the truck feel more tippy?

i got recreational with the angle grinder and a hammer. but i still hit that dang skid plate. x2 what 4runner 4play said.

you can hammer the skit plate but it's still gonna touch it. When I had my gastank in the stock location, it touch the higher part of the gastank which has no skid plate.

look in to a skinner drive shaft. The front D-shaft is smaller but can be made with thicker wall then you also get double cardan joint with it.

The stock rear d-shaft is pretty fat.

I have the 4crawler drop bracket and cruiser coils. I havn't bent the skid on the gas tank yet, but I have just barely touched it with my driveshaft. I didn't hear anything, but I can see that the dirt is scratched off where it touched. I had the driver side rear stuffed all the way up.
