I'm interested in lifting my truck 3-4". It's a 1982 SR5 Toyota 4X4, and I'm kinda new to all of this so your two cents will be appreciated! First I need to decide what all I'll need to lift it. I was thinking about lifting the body and suspension... but what would be a decent kit to do this at a decent price? If I were to put both body and suspension lift kits on it that were say... both 3 inches, would that be raising the truck up a total of 6 inches? Or would the suspension kit just allow it to fit and ride correctly since the body had been lifted also? I know I'm stupid... I'd like to find a kit that I could get that would help me out w/ everything i want to do and that even includes shocks. If not I'm thinking about buying Rancho RS9000X shocks, or Tuff Country SX8000 Nitro gas shocks. But if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

You should probably decide first what the purpose of the lift is. Then decide on a height and then pick the type. For the 1st gen pickups, the 2" OME lift kit gives you 2"-3" of suspension lift, a decent ride and good off-road capability. It comes with springs, shocks and all the hardware to install it in the stock location. Check out http://www.arbusa.com/ for details. A buddy runs them on hist '83 pickup with a body lift and easily fits 33" tires. A bodsy lift and suspension lift are independent, X" of body lift adds to Y" of suspension lift, plus you'll get Z" of lift from larger tires. Your total lift is the sum of X+Y+Z, more info:

i mainly want a lift for more ground clearance for off-roading. and probably the biggest tires i would put on my truck are 33's. but i'll check out the site you posted. if anyone else has a suggestion it's more than welcome!
