I have a 99 runner v6 4wd that recently making a "wua wua wua" sound. I can hear it best when I am coasting around 30-35 mph. It is coming from the right rear. I brought it into the stealership and was told it was wheel bearing and had it replaced under warranty. However, the sound didnt go away. I brought it back in and they told me that my rear axel was bent. This seems somewhat realisitc to me as about 10,000 miles ago (35,000 total on my rig) I had to have the axel seal replaced on the same side. Has anyone had this happen? I haven't hit it really hard on that side or anything and can't think of what could have caused it? Also, is the wua sound indicitive of a bent axel? Sorry for the long post but any help would be appreciated....

Bent axel? Would hopefully take more than just a seal replacement. I know I'm pointing out the obvious, but have you tried rotating the tires?

Yeah, I tried that the night before I took it in. I took off MTR's and put back on my stock set-up but it still was making the sound. Actually, I could hear it alot more clearly without the tire humm.

Let them replace the axel under warranty too. If that don't work, keep going until you've got an all new drivetrain

I have a sqeaking noise coming from the rear on my '94 P/U but I know for certain that it's my axle seal. There is also grease all over my inner rim on right rear.

Before I had my new rockcrawlers along with my new tires, I had a pretty bad vibration coming from my rear axle. Most present at dead 60MPH. It turns out that one of my rims was bent causing vibration.

I opted for new rims and tires to rid the vibration away and for the most part it did, but there is still some vibration present at dead 60MPH.

It occured to me that when I bent my rim, I also might have bent my axle.

I took one source away but there is still the other left which is why vibration is still present.

They actually said they won't repalce the axel under warranty because "axels don't bend themselves" to use their words. Also, my truck just went out of warranty last month. Anyways, does it seem like I am having symptoms of a bent rear axel or something else?

Thanks KING. I don't really have too much vibration though, just the sound and the continued problems with the right rear (axel seal, wheel bearing).

When you took off the MTR's, did you also change wheels? Maybe its a bent wheel? Any kind of wear patterns on the tire that you can see?

Yeah, I have the MTR's on another set of rims. I 99% sure that both sets are true and have had both balanced within the last 3 months. One more thing though, when I jack up back and spin the rear wheels, it looks like the back right is wobbly - much more so than the left side..

That sound, if it's not the tires, is typical of a axle bearing on the way out. Every one I ever had to replace started with that same sound. When you say, "I can hear it best when I am coasting around 30-35 mph." That really makes me think it's a rear axle bearing.

If it is the bearing, that dealership has to replace it for free, because they either installed a defective part, installed in incorrectly, or my best bet, they never installed a new one to begin with.
