Will it rust????

I just recently bought a 95 Tacoma. The guy who had it previously installed a box liner. On the corners of the liner he cut holes (for drainage)??? Does this seem dumb? Will the water not drain out of the liner and onto the box itself? Or will it also drain out of the box on it's own? I am worried about it rusting. Any help would be appreciated.

it should be ok, because the water will be able to drain out of the front of the bed, unless it has a lot of buildup of mud and crap, id take out the liner, hose out the bed, and seal up the holes in the liner with silicone

OR better yet... take out the liner, wash out the gunk, and then get a good quality spray-on liner like Rhino-lining or Line-X

Yes, eventually it will rust. How long is the real question. A lot of factors contribute to the severity of rust with a drop in liner...

Where you live
How tight it fits
How often the underside is cleaned (of the liner, and the truck bed)

So, I agree with Peter. Completely sealing it off is the way to go. I used to work for Rhino, so I am a bit partial as to which liner to go with.

I agree.

I had a bedliner in my 94 Ranger. It was slippery and useless. I took mine out every month and you would be suprised on how much crap is under there. I ended up getting Rhino Lining and it was 100% better!

Talking Liner

A bolt/screw in liner is of the and will eventually rust out your bed. Get rid of it and get a spray in liner that leaves no air between your precious metal and the liner. With the first type of liner it is not if it will rust, but when. With the spray in liner you won't have this problem.

I had a 95 Tacoma that came from upstate NY. The bottom of the truck was quite rusty from road salt. It had a OEM Toyta liner in it with four holes where the tie downs were. There was zero rust under the liner after being in there for five years. I took it out twice a year to wash and clean junk from under it. There was never any wetness under the liner when I removed it. It may have been the tight fit of that liner, but I never had a problem. My problem with drop in liners is stuff slides around really badly.
