too soft suspension

I did do a search but couldn't find any direct info

My 4Runner's suspension seems awfully sensitive to every bump or imperfection in the road and has a bad rebound feeling just driving especially in the rear. Is it normal for the stock suspension to have alot of rebound or is it time for new shocks and I do have 88k on my truck?
Even driving slow and and hitting just the small drainage dips in our townhome complex makes the rear seem to jerk alot and it is kinda annoying.

Didn't some 3rd gens have a recall on the rear springs? Someone with a third gen will chime in. My 2nd gen rode pretty bad on the original springs but when I swapped in my aftermarket springs it fixed a lot of the handling issues including body lean.

My plan is by January is to replace the shocks with Bilsteins and 1' lift springs ($350) from PP unless there's some other options (maybe cheaper) on the springs. I think the PP springs are made by H&R so the quality is good but I'd like to hear some opinions.

I'd also be interested if there are any recalls on the '97s.

I think for 96's and 97's there was the rear spring/bumpstop recall, and the headgasket recall. THose are the major ones that come to mind.

edit: I recommend OME springs and shocks cuz mine made a huge difference after riding on the stock springs and shocks for 70k

How do you find out if recalls were done on you vehicle? Does Toyota have a database of this so if I go to the dealership can they look it up?

Thank you VERY much.

The bad part of getting rid of my DSM was I knew that car like the back of my hand and now I gotta learn all this 4Runner stuff.
