Supercharger hood scoop?

Guys,
I am thinking about going with the TRD supercharger for my 2004 tacoma. I am not sure, but will I need to modify my hood for the supercharger to fit? I was thinking of either putting a hood scoop on the hood or getting an aftermarket hood with the scoop already on it.

Thanks.

No, you don't need to.

Are you aware of all the fuel/timing mods needed to make it run safely though? If not, do some searching. Plan on $1K - $2K in additional funds to do it right (depending on the transmission you have).

Damn I didnt know that there would be that much worth of extras to get for it to work right. I knew I would have to put some money down in other stuff for it to work, but what stuff exactly am I looking at here that I would have to also get?

We are always happy to help, but you really need to search first. There is a TON of information on here - maybe too much. Sift through it and then let us know if you have any specific questions.

Fuel/Timing kit: www.urdusa.com
Also, search: "Valve Body Upgrade" if you have an auto trans.

You can also click the link in my sig and look at the list of stuff I have. I pieced my kit together and saved about $300, but I got a lucky on a couple things, like the injectors.

{cough} {cough} Welcome to the "beat down on the new SC guy" thread!

Mr. Coot - Like Christian said, there's a ton of info here. _DO NOT_ think that you can bolt on that piece of hardware and be safe.

I'm on my 2nd tranny and at the end of a pretty expensive engine rebuild because I don't practice what I've been preaching here for 3 years.

But... one of the biggest things that we can toss you kudos for is asking a question - ANY question about the SC. Many guys will drop their cash and bolt it on without thinking.

(again) Like Christian said, we're here to help... If you let us.

So............ is that a sport hood that you made fit, or did you graft a 3rd party scoop onto the hood?

I have been on the forum for a little while although I dont post alot, but I do read up alot on the convos that take place in the forums. Anyway I figured with the amount of people that are on this site and the amount of knowlege that gets spread daily, I figured it didnt hurt to ask. Supercharging is something that Im very new to and I wont supercharge my ride for quite some time but this doesnt mean I cant start doing some research so no need to be thinking that Im going to be slapping this thing on tomorrow. Thanks for all the info guys.

Angus, how did you get that hood scoop like that? Did you custom fab it or is it one piece or what?

Cool. I need some misc body work done on my truck, so I figured I'd add this into the mix:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200065509485

For $26 I figured I'd see how it looked and if it could be smoothed into my hood. If it looks like crap, then it's a small amount of $$$ down the tubes. I really have to do something to get the heat out of my engine compartment.

No dude... I'll know what it may look like just by placing it on the hood. If I think it'll look okay, and if people respond favorably to the inevitable poll that I'll create here, THEN I get out the jigsaw!

Midiwall,
I did the same thing. I ordered the exact same hood scoop. My hood already has some dents in it, I figure if it looks bad I need a new hood anyway.
