stock height 96 tacoma tire Q

my car 96 4x4 ext cab tacoma

stock wheels are 15"
tire size 31x10.5x15 stock

no lift

i want 15 or 16" black steel wheels for 98% daily driving and 2% offroad minor fun

what kind of backspacing should i get and what size tires in each wheel size. i want my truck to be alittle higher looking and definitely NO RUBBING on the A-arms

what is stock backspacing?

either style is ok no preference there, i thought it was 4.5 too, can anyone confirm? also, bringing it out to 4.75 say would make it stick out of the fender well some correct?

are stock lugs conical?
and what centerbore will work??

Talking

The tacomas has 4.5. I just got some 15" steelies with 3.75 backspacing. The tires stick out about 3/4" from the fenders on my tacoma, but then again, I'm running 32x11.5r15 so the 31's won't stick out as much.

that would make the tires go into the fender well more. if you want them to stick out, you should have less backspacing. like 4 or 3.75

Measure your current backspacing and then you will know for sure what it is:

http://www.4crawler.com/Diesel/Tires.shtml#WHEELS

Increasing backspacing pulls the wheels/tires in closer to the body, less pushes them out wider.

And while you have the tape measure out for the backspacing measurment, measure the center bore hole diameter as well.

You likely will not be able to fit taller than 31x10.50 tire w/o a lift:

You Can Fit 32x11.5 R15's On A Stock Suspension, With Only A Slight Fender Rubbing. If You Are Looking For A Great Deal On Black Steel Wheels, Go To 4wheelparts.com And Look At Their Rock Krawler Wheels. I Got A Set Of 4 15x10 Black Steel Bulletthole Wheels For Like 64 Or 65 Bucks A Piece. They Also Have A Great Deal On Pro Comp 3000 Series Shocks With A Free Steering Stabilizer. Thats What I Got For My 2nd Gen.

the biggest is a 33x10.5r15 on a set of 89-95 alloy wheels... (15x7, ~4.25" bs)...

you have to trim the fender skirt a little... and pounded the pinch weld flat.
