Stock Alarm question (disabling)
My alarm is starting to show its age. Sometimes when I go to unlock it, the alarm starts going bezerk. Is there a way to retain the keyless entry and disable the alarm? It's just so embarrassing when your horn is blaring in the middle of a parking lot or in your driveway, and you can't do anything about it. I press the keyfob and nothing happens.
Any input would be appreciated.

just tear the darn thing out. i hated that alarm. the best day is when i read midi's thread about the commando 870 and got some guys to put a group buy together

if yall guys are lookin at the commando 870, check out the very similar autopage 860lcd, both are on FM frequency. ive installed couple of those along w/ the 720lcd and theyre pretty good. mostly importantly, its cheaper than the commando.
the down side to those brands are the LCD replacement remotes, it can be very expensive since its its not that popular on the mobile security market.

I mean $50 for a tiny circuit board and maybe 10 cents worth of plastic/silicone.

Yes, I have the RS3000. So if its in valet mode, the alarm won't be armed? I'll have to try that out.
I might also look at getting something else, like those mentioned above. My OEM Honda alarm had a range of about 2000 ft. This thing's only got maybe 5.
How is the range with the commando and autopage? I had a Python in my Acura and it had one of those antennas that stick onto the front of the windshield and that had a range of about a mile. Loved that alarm, but it's expensive.

for all DEI units w/ xhf or hf antenna, the remotes are interchangable. that means that you dont hvave to find the exwact replacement. i.e. viper, python, rattler, avital, and valet 1way 433mhz remotes are interchangable.

thats correct. it wont arm nor starter-kill.
ive never heard of any factory alarm out there that have any more than 50' of range.
DEI 2way units' range only goes up to 1/4 miles, w/o obstructions. autopage is the same. the brand new, redesigned, viper 5900 has 1mile range.

And I was exaggerating about the "mile range" on the Python. The brochure said ~ 2000 feet.
