Starter won't turn on 3rd gen...
Usualy I would use the search but were stuck at a hotel n my friends 3rd gen 4 cyl won't start. Battery was said to be fine the last time he got it checked. JR has an aftermarket alarm since day one. The car has about 140k. Starter just won't turn over. We heAr A clicking noise...any ideas? It also happens at random more when it's cold.

New starter contacts. I just did it to mine, starts every time now. You can try hitting it with a hammer to get it home, then replace them. I got the parts for 21 bucks, both contacts and the plunger

Thanks dude we tapped the starter unit and it worked after a few tries. I think my friend is just gonna have it serviced at his mechanic's shop doesn't look like something that should be tackled by a novice. Thanks again.

Should save a whole load of $ with that info.

Well, it isn't that hard really, depends if you have the right tools though. once you get it out, its simple. But make sure he knows that he doesn't need a whole new starter. the Contacts, and plunger are all you need to get it fixed.

Yeah I'm aware of this. Most of the time I either get a new part though I haven't ever used any rebuilt parts before. I'll do it on my next runner when I get a new one.
