shake rattle and roll..what???
Newbie here, Hello to all!!
Heres the problem: My wife has a stock 99 Tacoma 4x4, it came with the small 28" tires, so i upgraded to 30" that were off my Jeep, ever since I added the larger tires we cant seem to get the thing to ride smooth(mainly at hiway speeds) like original. The first set wore terrible with lots of cupping, it was aligned 2 times in last 6 mos and tires balanced (as it feels like tires always unbalanced). This weekend put some new 30" and no change, crap!. So could it be the front struts/shocks need repalce, not handling the exta weight??? I go under truck and have wife turn wheel back and forth to see If anything loose, what i do notice is the whole rack and pinion does move back and forth a bit with each change in direction, is this normal??? all bolts were tight and I didnt see any broken mounts. Any ideas would be appriciated.
TIA

It's possible that they're not balancing your wheels right. Go here for great info on this http://www.gadgetonline.com/vibration.htm

It is normal for the rack to move somewhat, but look around this site for a while and you'll realize that tacoma r&p steering is problematic. liftthe front end and check each wheel for play. My pass side had 3/4" play and was eating tires. I bought a new rack for $100 from some spoiled 18 year old whose g'parents paid for an sas. problem solved.
