Replaced 2004 Tacoma 4 Cyl Water Pump
My 2004 4 cyl Tacoma started leaking coolant late last winter. At first it was a small leak - lost about 1 oz. every 150 miles, but as we got into early spring the loss picked up a bit.
A bit disappointed that a Toyota with just 60,000 miles on it had already developed a faulty water pump. Vehicle has the 100K pink coolant.
Followed the disassembly instructions found in an online Tacoma factory service manual. Pretty straight-forward as water pump change-outs go.

It was my introduction to metal water pump gaskets.
Wasn't sure if a sealer was needed or not.
Contacted Permatex at their WEB site. Was told to use Permatex Hylomar #85249.
5000 miles later things are holding up well.
Replaced original factory water pump with a dealer Toyota water pump. Approx $123.00 + tax. Came with a water pump gasket.
