Removing the catalytic contverter

My cat is buzzing; if I remove it and put in a pipe, will it harm the engine? I want to save money so I can get a Flowmaster in afew months and don't see waisting $120 dollars on a cheap converter now. Thanks.

I took heavy fire yesterday and the day before and the day before that from mentioning I was going to take mine off to gain power. I got smacked around by plenty of guys so I have decided that after getting flamed & driving my buddies 94 4runner that is catless & having to smell the SOB I am going to go with some street legal high flow cat. But since the flames are so hot on this subject heres some homework for you flamers. I want you flamers to find the best price on the highest flow cat on the market so we the cat haters can stay legal and keep you pyro flamers from burning any more bridges down. lol jk But seriously help us out. Pretend were stupid and illiterate and show us to the light. lol

Why pretend? LMAO

Any how, cats there for a reason and a damn good one. Lower emissions.
The ECM and EFI system are setup for a cat to work effectively.

I would get a used cat from a juck yard (cheapest solution) or www.performanceproducts.com for a high end solution.

If it's a 4banger, it'll sound like cr@p w/o one and you'll lose low end power.

Arnold - Surprisingly, it was the opposite for my buddy. I thought the exact thing you said would happen but instead he noticed more low-end power and a better sound...weird.

BBB - AgRunner just got a high-flo cat on EBay for about 32 bucks I think...I was gonna get one...but still can't decide what I wanna do.

Driving around with no cat has some very stiff penalties FIY. (i.e. upto $3000+ fine and something like 3 years) It might be only your heat shield anyway.

The flames are so hot. Why do I keep loving to touch them?
Its funny that you guys freak out and say the stuff you do. Everyones a know it all. Thats just fine but im pretty sure I gave you guys homework. I now no longer need you to do this for me though. I found out that I already have either an after market cat or altered one. The cats been cut out & welded back in SO THERE! lol Im off your flaming list being you dont know whats been done to mine BUT then again I guess I dont either. Have A Nice Day!

Around here it is very unlikely that you would ever get caught not having one seeing as how we don't have state inspections.

Here either. thats why I find it so funny that the ones that live in those areas assume were all inspected. Not I!

22re, hollowed cat, no muffler! Sounds SWEET! and a significant power increase after toying with the air flow meter!
