I am having problems trying to get the right side of my rear shackle out so I can finish up the installation of a new shackle. I been hammering it in and out and the thing is still not budging. Any help would be much appreciated.

is the vehicle frame supported on jackstands and do you have a floor jack under the pumpkin to alleviate pressure on the chackle?

yeah the jackstands are on, wheels off, shocks out, the axle is just hanging, I managed to get the other shackle off, but this other one I am having a bit of a problem. Do I just hammer the living ˟˟˟˟˟ outta it?

you can... but what im saying is put the jack under the axle and semi support it.. it will take the stress off the shackle and makei t easier to come out......

Likely the shackle pin has rusted to the sleeve inside the bushing. If that is the case and you want to preserve the bushing, soak in a good penetrating oil (PB Blaster, Kroil, etc.), apply some heat (just until the oil smokes a bit) and try applying leverage to the shackle side plate (pry bar) while twisting it back and forth. Hammering on the pin probably won't do a lot because the rubber bushing just absorbs the impact. If you can get some steel plates between the shackle and spring to support the sleeve, you might have better luck. It took me most of a day to get my stock shackles out, took repeated applications of penetrating oil and lots of time for it to soak in.

I had to rig up a press using a large C-clamp to get my passenger side shackle apart. I heated it up and after getting the clamp in place and it pressed it right out, the pin had rused to the bushing!
