rear brake necessity after axle seal replacement
I am doing my rear brakes this weekenend and wanted to know if I change just the shoes after gear oil has spilled onto it would that be ok? Or would I have to change the drums and the springs and stuff?

Yeah, I just changed mine after my seals leaked and froze up the rear breaks which caused the wheel cylinder to start leaking fluid. Havent seen any problems yet but make sure you replace/refill that gear oil as well . . . keep your breather clean.

Use brake cleaner to loosen up the oil from the drums, wipe 'em down with a rag and you'll be find.
Actually, if you got goo all over the brake assembly (sounds like it since you're asking about the springs as well) then buy a couple of cans of brake cleaner and waste one spraying down the whole assembly (1/2 on each side).
