Question
ok heres what i have to ask:
I have a 1995 Model Toyota Tacoma. I just bought it used over the summer (my first truck btw ) It runs great, just i want it to sound better. What would be best to get, a Flowmaster or Glass packs? I've heard Glass packs sound great on a 4 cyl truck (is what i have) but then i hear some people at work telling me a Flowmaster would make it sound better than the glasspacks. Please help! Im looking here soon to getting one of these things.
Thanks
TacomaDrew

Welcome to the forums.
Hi Drew, this gets brought up quite a bit.
Look on the "Yotatech on the web" link that is on the main index page here.
Once there, I have a link for exhaust sounds I have put together of various systems.
I have the Magnaflow on mine, and love it.
I am also running 2.25" pipe.
That would be the right size pipe too for your engine.
A shop can check the diameter of your pipe you have now, and if it's 2.25" already, all you have to do is have a good muffler welded in.

Hey can't really help you there. Sorry. Just wanted to say a big welcom though. Actually, I did hear that the Borlas sound pretty good on the 4runners, but most of them run v6s in them, so it would probably sound different in your 4 banger.
LOL That's the funniest thing I have heard all day. Great description too.
Well, have fun (I know I am)

Hey Drew,
I just wanted to wecome ya to the board, feel free to ask ANYTHING. This is a great community of people. Also when it comes to exhaust, definatly go with the magnaflow, that is what I'm doing, now I'mjust trying to find a tip that I like, but won't cancel to much of the sound out. Good luck and keep us posted o the process.

Hey man! i see you are from NC I'm from the Kernersville area. Yea, I got stereo sound already, i just want a good sound for my truck thats not gonna burn a wallet the size of China in my wallet. With school and stuff money goes quickly, but i want to get my truck sounding good with good products that will last me a while. Probably tomorrow i'm going to call that Exhaust place here uptown and see if they can get that Magnaflow exhaust. Also, 1 question, since my truck is a 4 cyl. will it make a dramatic change in sound?, or just a little deeper throaty sound?
Thanks again,
TacomaDrew

Hey I'm from Hight Point, not to far up from you. Glad to find another NC guy here. As for what your rig will sound like with a new exhaust and being a 4cyl, I don't know how that'll go. I've never heard an exhaust on anything 4cyl. I know if you want performance and sound you got it right with Magnaflow. I have no doubt that Magnaflowwill give you a good mellow tone from your engine, no matter what size.

Drew, on the exhaust page I have the part # for the 2.25" muffler.
That will be the one you want.
Some not knowing have bought the 20" Magnaflow, and that is almost quieter than stock
For the nice deep low tone, you need the 14" one like I and several others have.
If you get one, see if you can record it.
It will be the first one I have with a 4 cylinder.
I have not heard one on a 4 cylinder yet.
My '90 22RE truck I use to have had a full exhaust from Tri-y header, to all new pipe with a turbo muffler.
I don't remember the brand name, but it sounded good.
Expect to pay about $80 for the model I have.
You might wanna check your pipe size too, and perhaps move up to 2.25" if it is not already.

Hey Drew
I got a site for you to take a look at. I have togive credit to Joshik before anything, but he posted this site for AzWildYoat to look at and I started looking around on it as well. I saw this thing for a V6 exhaust modified for a 4cyl and thuought of you and your situation.
http://www.off-road.com/toyota/cheaptricks/exhaust/
That's the link, take a look this guy said it was one of the most cost effective things he has done. Once again props to Joshik for linking me to the site in the first place.
