painting your intake manifold (plenum)
I was thinking while I have my intake off I could use my wire brush on it clean it up and paint it red like my heads.. I know no horsepower gains just bling but it would look cool. Would there any adverse problems by painting the intake manifold? IE: heat issues?

Are you talking about the intake manifold or the plenum? I'm imagining that you are talking about the plenum because the manifold is under the plenum and you can't even really see it. As for the heat issue, there shouldn't be any problems. Just make sure that you get high temp paint because that thing gets pretty hot.

I have some red 500 deg engine paint I used for my heads so that should work ok on it.

This is how it did look.
I have my engine torn down to the heads right now I am redoing my intake and exhaust cam shims as well a putting in some helicoils for one of the camshaft caps.

One for the EGR and the other is for the valve cover.
I don't think it will get painted tonight I took it apart the damn inside of the plemium has tar like creocote crap all in it so I am taking down to have it hot tanked tomorrow.

Ok here are some pics of it:
Before painting the top of it.
Pics without the flash
It came out pretty good as you can see the 3.0 V6 sticker fell off when it was hot tanked but I think it looks good without it.
I'll get some pics up when it's installed back on my runner.
I did about 2 coats of 500 deg universial red on it. I think for a cheap mod it looks pretty good.

First there is never any reason to use 500* paint on your engine. If those metal parts ever get 500* you will need a whole new engine.
Painting those kind of parts is usually not a real good idea. Someday the paint will start to peal off and then it will really look bad.
Here is one from a 3.4 that turned out really nice.
The best way to do these kind of parts is to powder coat them. In that process the parts are super cleaned and then bead blasted and cleaned again. Then the powder is applied with an electrical charge and then the part is baked at high temp to melt and bond the coating to the part. This results in one of the more durable finishes for this type of application.

I say if you like the orange and don't mind touching it up periodically, paint is fine.
It is a pretty intense color.

934rnr,
I have the same engine as you and was just about to adjust the valves because it is ticking loudly at 208k miles. How annoying of a job is this, timewise and everything. I've adjusted valve clearance on the 22r and an integra but those were both screw adjustable. How much more difficult is it with shims.
