Question Optima Yellow Top help

I just got my '92 pickup two months ago and I love it! Today I had my first problem though. It's so cold out that my crappy battery is dead (saw it coming so I'm not surprised). Have done my research and am pretty sure I'm getting an Optima yellow top but still have a few questions. I currently have a Momo sub and amp and plan on adding another amp for the speakers that will be going in. I also want to add some other electrical accessories: fog lamps, brighter reverse lights, etc... For this reason I should go with the yellow not the red, correct? Also, which one would be the best fit for my truck? I was guessing the D750S? Finally, are there any problems installing that battery that i should know about? I did read about some people having to extend cables and such. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what sides the + and - are on the red or yellow, but I know the Optima blue top fit my 93 Runner fine. I just had to add a spacer under the battery since it's a little shorter than a standard one.

Stole this from another thread I am on. Should be the same for the yellow top except I would mount the cables on the side facing up.

I could be wrong but aren't the yellow top's deep cycles? If it is, they aren't meant as a starting battery. Guy at are shop put one in his 5.0L and it didn't last a year. Not sure on that one.

I've got the Yellow top in my 91 Pickup. Works great! Definately the choice if you plan on running lots of accessories. I bought it when I was driving my 300ZX because my stereo would kill my battery, even while I was driving.

Yes the Yellow Top is deep cycle, but it is perfectly fine for use as a starting battery. It is rated at more cranking amps than is needed to start our engines. I did have to put some wood under the battery to raise it high enough for the battery clamp to hold it in place. Definately buy one with dual terminals. It will make it much easier adding accessories.

Optima recommends the yellow top if you have a lot of aftermarket equipment (lights, stereo, winch) because of the deep cycle aspect. It has a lot of power. The red top is a starting battery for a auto/truck. Not much extra equipment but can handle some. Charges rapidly and usually lasts much longer than normal batteries. It has a 36 month replacement and 72 pro-rated while the yellow is 12 and 36.

As OneTrickToy said, the yellows are fine for starting. They have plenty of cranking power to start the Yota motors but also have plenty of other power to supply a stereo, lights, winch, anything under the sun with enough power as well...

I'm going to be ordering one here soon as well

Actually there are two different Yellow top Optima's, the one used by most 4x4 applications is a deep cycle/starter battery, which isn't a true deep cycle but a hybrid, which has higher CC amps and reserve compared to the other yellow top which is a deep cycle only.
