Cool Optima Batteries

I have a question concerning the "Red-Top" Optima battery:

I was quoted a price of $110 for one. Is this a good price? I wish to get one for each of my 2 vechicles.

From the prices I've seen for the red tops, that's pretty good. Haven't seen it any lower at least. Go for it.

You might be better off with an Orange Top. It is the same as the Red, but the poles are reversed. I don't know if your year truck needs that or not, but think about it.

Also make sure that your get the FREE plastic spacer tray that goes under the battery so it will fit the mounts.

Yeah, on the 3rd gen., you have to get the orange top or else its a real PITA. I bought a red top not knowing and ended up returning it. After buying a duralast, i found out about the orange top.

So, would I also need a Orange top for my 1998 4Runner? And, where is the best place to get a good price on these?

The Orange Top with the included plastic spacer tray will be a 5 minute drop in for all the 3rd Gen 4Runners.

Optima = $$$ = Bling Bling =

Check out Interstate Batteries if you want to save some $$$

They make the Optima line.

BTW, I have both the Yellow Top, Red Top and an Interstate.

Testimonial:One NIGHT in rush hour stop and go traffic I drove on the Interstate from Stamford CT to the Tappan Zee Bridge in Tarrytown NY with a thrown alternator belt and my Yellow Top kept me going all the way.

I've heard nothing but good things about Interstate batteries. I think that both Optima and Interstate are made by Johnson Controls now...

Peter,

So which Interstate is the Yellow Top equivalent? I'm in need of a new battery soon.

Bob, I have never replaced the batteries in any of my Toyotas. I bought a battery for my Chevy wagon to replace the deep cycle Yellow Top. I wanted a Red Top this time and found an Interstate that had better specs than the red top for less money. I have a Red Top in my Chevy truck. I went to one of the Interstate company stores and went through the specs with the guy at the desk. If you go to their website you can find the nearest store to where you live. They'll also repair your Norelco cordless razor.

BTW, you can bargain with them on price too.

Optima Bttery meets gun

Optima is the toughest around. My friend (yeah, he's a bit of a redneck) shot one with a 9mm pistol and it still worked! They are filled with a solid, not a liquid, and I think that's why they are so durable.

Is your friend Ted Nugent? ....

Nahhh, he'd have used a Desert Eagle.
