Need help in who makes best CV Joints
I was just needing to replace my front passenger CV joint. The boot is leaking and it is only a matter of time. Anyone know of who makes the strongest OEM replacement shaft?

i put in shucks/O'Reilly brand new cv's with a lifetime warranty a few days ago they look really nice fit great best of all they couldn't find reman's so they sold me new ones at 70ea also changing the cv's is like a 15min job there really that simple

WOW those RCV ones look awesome! But 585 per side thats to much. I've had no problem with them breaking yet just the boot going bad. I think the O'Reilly ones will probably be a good buy, plus the unlimited warr is nice. Thanks alot guys for the help!

I also want to be able to carry atleast one spare CV on the trail. I would hate to buy three of those suckers!
As for the boots, try these, I love mine.

Yeah I want someone to buy the RCV to test them. $585 is too much.

I have 5.29 gears and only use my truck for moderate to hard wheelin and have had no problems with CV s at all since the diff drop,long travel boots, and napa shafts.
Before doing those things I broke 6 CV's in like three months.

No just the boots. I just bought new shafts and put their boots on those shafts.

Why would new long travel boots keep you from breaking CV's? I understand how the boot would not wear as quickly. I suffered 2 broke CV's now and in both cases the actual joint/cage literally broke. Neither showed any sign of failure of the boot before the break. In fact one was new.
I am not being an @ss. Just asking because I may have a misunderstanding of how the CV functions/what leads to failure and it sounds like you have a lot of experience with broken CVs.

I just replaced both of my CV axles, got them at Advanced Auto for 59.99 a piece. Its 49.99 for remanned CVs. Ill post up if these boots break too.

anyone know where i can find a good video on replacing cv axles for a 3rd gen 4runner? I have heard it is not as hard as it seems but still it would be nice to have a template to go off of. also... for any of you on here that might be military.... i checked on post at the auto repair store and cv axles were only 150 installed... so check out yours if you have one and if this applies to you.
